End of summer sales.
This is a sponsored post:
This is the perfect time of year to purchase outdoor items. Wind Chimes or a cute bird feeder that you had in mind could be on sale right now! I love to shop for home and garden items right now, even if it is to just put them away until next year. You can get so much for your money! I always check out OnlineDiscountMart.com for great end of summer deals! They also have really cute Halloween items!
No commentsIf you are planning to EVER have a baby, read this.
“A common plastic used in baby bottles is polycarbonate. In separate studies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Consumers Union and researchers at Nagasaki University in Japan found that baby bottles made of polycarbonate plastic release a hormone-disrupting chemical, bisphenol-A (BPA), into infant formula during sterilizing and heating on the stove-top. The Japanese scientists also found that used bottles leached up to nearly double that from new bottles”
“The damage is seen in egg cells of female mice. When these cells try to divide, their chromosomes don’t line up right. In humans this results in spontaneous abortion, birth defects, or mental retardation, says genetic abnormalities expert Patricia A. Hunt, PhD, of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.”
*FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY- DO NOT PURCHASE FOOD/WATER THAT IS CONTAINED IN PLASTIC THAT HAS A RECYCLE NUMBER 7 ON THE BOTTOM*
First of all, why did I not know about this! I am so upset that I have been using plastic for both of my kids. I can tell you right now that I have been on the phone the past 30 minutes calling every store in the Nashville area trying to find some old school glass bottles! I finally found some at Babies R Us, and as soon as Eric gets home from work I am going to jump into the van and drive there and purchase all of them!!!!!! I just don’t understand why the plastic bottles are still on the shelves, does the government not care? Obviously NOT. I just feel so stupid for not knowing this! I sat here for almost nine months refreshing my brain on how to properly take care of a baby. Now, not only do I feel bad, I feel even worse because we use hard plastic bottles! What can be worse than that you ask? Putting it in the MICROWAVE!!!! Yes, we are BAD parents. I feel like my nerves are just torn all to pieces! Gavin came into the living room as I was on hold with someone from K-Mart, and I snapped on him. I was just in a panic to find glass bottles and he was talking so loud. Well, when I come home tonight with glass bottles I will feel so much better, although I could kick myself in the ass for using plastic ones the past six months with Laura. Poor Gavin used them until he was almost 3!!!!! (I just couldn’t deny him a bottle if he wanted one)

Mailbox

Well, I am sure that everyone knows by now that we hate the apartments that we live in. The apartments themselves are okay, with a better maintenance team and better management this place would be an okay choice. It seems as if everything around here is just falling apart. Most of the stuff that is falling apart is just outdated and needs to be upgraded. It seems as if every time I go to get our mail I have to fight with the mailbox to get it open. I wish the management would look into getting new mailboxes or even check out cbu mailboxes. Something needs to be done about the mailboxes, but I am sure nothing will be done.
No comments200 flying bugs!
Well last night around 10 pm or so my friend Sarah called to ask if I wanted to come visit for a little while. She has purchased a new home that I have yet to see. I was going into the kitchen to get my purse when I see a bunch of tiny white flying bugs. At that time I could see about 10 of them flying around the kitchen light. I yelled for Eric and by the time he had made it into the kitchen there were more! They were everywhere. They had an almost translucent look, and unless they were flying around you could not see them. Eric threw on some shoes and headed out to get some bug spray while I pulled out the vacuum and started sucking those little suckers up. We had tried to use an old school fly swatter on them with no luck. The vacuum was actually doing a good job. By the time Eric got back though, they were EVERYWHERE. Hundreds of them. When he would spray it would aggravate them even more and they just started going crazy. More and more came out of the light fixture. How did this happen? Then I remembered that the maintenance team brought new air filters the other day, so I went and looked and there were tons covering the air filter. I took it outside and we continued to spray and vacuum. We even called the emergency maintenance line, as this WAS an emergency, lol. Well, an hour passed and we had the situation under control. By the time we went to bed last night we could only find 2 more. As of this morning they are all dead. I just want to know what they were and where they came from. They almost looked like mosquitoes, but they were translucent. I am telling you right now, if they are mosquitoes we are moving out! OUT OUT OUT! I have saved a few because the maintenance guy was going to come get some to take to the exterminator to find out what they are and to also find out how to get rid of them and or prevent them. Needless to say, but it is already past noon and he has not come, as he probably won’t.
I have included a picture. It is slightly blurry, it was so hard to get a good up-close picture, as they are really tiny bugs. Two landed on Laura’s diaper, that was in her diaper bag (that is how bad they were), they died there. These are the “samples” for the maintenance guy. NASTY. NASTY. I am so grossed out. It is not even funny!

Insurance
This is a sponsored post:
Eric and I both have life insurance. I am not sure what the difference is between life insurance and term life insurance. I intend to do some research and find out. Purchasing life insurance is a bit creepy if you ask me, but it is necessary if you have a family. I know that when my grandmother passed last year she had life insurance, which helped pay off her past bills.
No commentsFlorida would be nice.

Lately it has been so hot here in Tennessee. We haven’t had a good rain storm in weeks. I have heard that even though Florida tends to have hot summers as well, the air quality there is so much better. I would love to be able to purchase a piece of Miami real estate! I have always been jealous of people that have multiple properties in different states!
No commentsSo tired.
Laura woke up last night at 2:48 and then again at 5:38 this morning. I didn’t get into bed until around midnight, which didn’t help me much. I am so tired, technically I got enough sleep, it was just all broken up so I just feel tired. Well so far the ruling is that Gavin has some form of Autism. The spectrum is so large for Autism, but we do know that he is on the end, just barely there. His main issue is his speech. He does do some of the other “stuff” that is typical of Autism, as he “hums” a lot…did I spell that right? He does line his toys up, *sometimes*. He also usually has something in his hand that he rolls around between his fingers, most of the time it is lint that he finds on blankets, the carpet, or his clothing. He does make eye contact a lot, but it is just very short, as if he is too busy to look at us. Eric and I thought it could be Autism way back but we were just in denial. He also likes to spin in circles, but we just though he did that because he is wild. Lol. We just kept thinking that he would “catch” up on his own. He has made a lot of progress the last few months, but he is still WAY behind for his age. We meet with the two ladies from the school board the other day and he was approved for preschool classes. He will start sometime before the end of next month. Today he totally freaked out because I did not have any bread. It was really strange. He acted like it was the end of the world! I am just going to get Eric to stop on his way home from work tonight to get some. We are very optimistic that with some help in school and some speech therapy that he will do just fine. We still will have to fork out more money to get the “final diagnosis”. Just to have it written on paper to show the government so we can get some extra help for him. We are sad to see him start school, but excited about it as well. We are excited to see the progress he makes! We hear that this will do wonders for him! We love the little booger though, and will miss him too.

Vacation House

I bet Florida would be a nice place to visit right now. It is so hot here right now, and it would just be so nice to be near Disney World! I wish my parents or Eric and I had a vacation home Orlando! Maybe next summer we can take a road trip in our new van! I wouldn’t mind taking the kids to Disney World!
No commentsFinally sleeping in her crib!
Laura is close to being 6 months old! It is hard to believe. It is also hard to believe that she just now started to sleep in her bed! Up to this point she has slept in her swing, with the swing on. I am SO glad that we purchased the one that we could plug into the wall! We would have had to take out a loan to just pay for batteries if we had gone with another swing! I am just so thrilled that she now sleeps in her bed! She has been quite fussy lately, we are thinking it is because she is getting some teeth! I just cannot believe that she will be 6 months old on September 8th!

So, today I learned of the lap-band surgery. There are so many benefits from this procedure. This can really help people that are dangerously overweight. This procedure can help them loose the pounds of extra weight, and gain great health benefits! People that obese are at risk of developing other life-threatening medical conditions. If you or anyone that you are close to is fighting with obesity, let them know about this!
No commentsBlue water.
So, Laura went swimming for the first time! She loved it! After splashing around for about and hour she took a long needed nap by the pool! I am going to order her a baby float, as I could not find any locally for sale. She just smiled and splashed around while her brother hung onto me scared for his life. Gavin is so afraid of swimming, although he does like to chill in a float. My silly kids.

Travel.

I was thinking the other day about how Eric and I don’t have any type of luggage. I think that having luggage on hand would be good just in case we had to pack up and go somewhere on a short notice. When I think about luggage all I can think about is this huge blue hard shell Samsonite suitcase my grandmother had. This thing could protect anything! We used to play with it when we were children! I think when we were cleaning out her house after she passed we found it and put it in the yard sale. I know it had to have been over ten years old, but it was still holding up after all those years!
No commentsBugs everywhere.
Yesterday UPS dropped of Laura’s new Pack N Play. I must say that it is very cute, but I don’t like the way that it is made. It just feels really cheap. The netting part on one side is loose, so Amazon is sending out a replacement, Amazon has always been good about customer service. Anyways, back to the Graco Pack N Play, the bottom part is not padded like it could be, and I can feel the wood pieces, there are three that make up the floor. The floor kind of caves in towards the middle, so Laura tends to just roll to the center. The mesh sides seem to be really thin and cheap, and I am guessing that if Laura abusing this thing like Gavin did his, this one will not last long. I am thinking about just sending both back and getting something completely different. I might just end up going to Babies R Us and getting something there that I can actually see in person before I purchase. Not sure yet, this one is so cute!

Loud Truck, Sleeping Baby.
This is a sponsored post:
Every Wednesday morning, around 10 or so a very loud truck pulls up. From what I can see it is a home health care delivery truck. Maybe they are delivering portable oxygen concentrator or something of that nature, I am not quite sure. All I know is that they are very loud. The truck sounds like it is in need of repair. I just get very irritated when they pull up, because it always seems like Laura is sleeping around that time. If I can get the nerve, I will just call the company and tell them that their vehicle is disturbing others in this community!
No commentsBaby Slinging!
Yesterday I was getting the mail when I realized that my baby sling had came in! I was so excited! I have never used a baby sling before, and I thought it would be so awesome to try one out! This one is made by Slinglings. This is the most stylist and most comfortable thing ever! I have used a baby carrier before, and it just ended up making Laura uncomfortable and end up making my back ache, but this doesn’t! There are so many different patterns to choose from, and something else that is really cool is that you can go in at their website and vote for new patterns! I chose to get the toile pattern, which is very beautiful and since it is neutral it will go with just about anything that I wear! Laura is only five months old now, so this baby sling will last a long time! This baby sling can hold up to 35lbs, so I can carry her in this sling until she is way into her toddler years. Gavin is four years old and only weighs about 45lbs if that tells you anything! I just cannot get over how soft this baby sling is. The material has a slight stretchy feel too it, which makes it even more comfortable, almost like it conforms to your body and to your child’s body. Eric even gave it a go last night, and he liked it as well! He really liked the fact that it did not hurt his back! If you are expecting or have a baby now this would be a must have on your list!
