Things are happening at work!

Posted by Jen

So, I am very excited to announce that we got a new filing cabinet at work! Ha! I know you are saying, what a dork! Right? Well, considering that everything we have at work needs to be replaced, and updated, it is very nice to get a new filing cabinet. We really needed it. And we also received Office Professional, so now I can go in and edit our consent forms and such, which I have been needing to do for some time now! I think we are getting an alarm system with alarm system monitoring, which is awesome, and it is something we needed a long time ago! I just can’t wait for new desks, and new computers!

He loves his sister.

Posted by Jen

So Gavin understands that his sister is sick. It is really sad. He decided to lay down with her last night, which I thought was really sweet. He was very quiet, and gentle. She seemed to love having him by her as they watched television. She is really “needy” right now, and loves for someone to be near her at all times. It only lasted a few minutes, but the house was quiet, and they were still long enough for me to snap a picture. I hope he protects her always. Thats what big brothers are for! But I am sure only a couple of years from now I will have to pull them apart when they are trying to beat each other up!

Oysters!

Posted by Jen

What did one oyster say to the other oyster? Don’t let that person eat me! Just kidding around, but in all seriousness, did you know that raw oysters can be life threatening to people that are at risk? Did you know that if you have diabetes, or liver disease, that you should avoid eating raw oysters? I never had heard of this before! I didn’t even know what Gulf oysters were! I am glad though, that there is a website dedicated to educate others about this! BeOysterAware.com is a great place to go to and get educated on Vibrio Vulnificus, a gram-negative bacterium that occurs naturally in warm, unpolluted seawater. Go to BeOysterAware.com now, and get educated!

Naobi is really pushing my buttons.

Posted by Jen

I hate that we are having to put Naobi in her kennel so much, it is just hard to deal with her while Laura is sick.  I am pleased to say though that I have managed to get Laura’s fever down to 101! Yeah! And if I can just keep alternating her Motrin and Tylenol, she will continue to feel better. She is actually playing right now! I love it! I hate it when she feels so bad that she can’t move. No parent ever wants their child to be sick, and it is even harder when they are small toddlers.

So, Gavin is officially on  spring break. He is sleeping in as we speak. He seems to always hate school, which he is too young to start that, he still has many years of school ahead of him! Ha! Poor little guy! I am sure he will be super excited when he wakes up and doesn’t have to go to school, I am sure the first thing he will do is terrorize the poor puppy.

Back years ago.

I remember taking a few trips to Atlanta back years ago. There are so many things to do in Atlanta. It is hard to choose what to do while you are there, but man you can have tons of fun! I remember back when Josh, David and I went there to see A Perfect Circle. We ended up driving, and Josh decided to drive. Now, Josh cannot drive, but I didn’t know this. It was a horrible ride there. Josh almost wrecked three times. One time we were just on a long stretch of road, and there was only one car in front of us, but he almost rear ended them, because he was too busy talking. He had to stop so fast that we could smell the tires burning. We finally made it there, safely, and we find out that all of the tickets for the concert had been sold out hours before we arrived. We were so upset, we had just driven four hours. We tried our best to get tickets, or to find someone to let us in, but with no luck. We ended up just going somewhere for dinner, and then just driving around Atlanta. It was still a fun trip, even though we almost were in multiple accidents, and even though we didn’t get to see A Perfect Circle. We had been there a few weeks earlier, when I drove, and we did see A Perfect Circle, and the Tabernacle. I learned my lesson to purchase tickets online before we drive anywhere! But if you are looking to get away, and go on vacation, I suggest you check into Trusted Tours & Attractions! Maybe even check out Key West Snorkeling! That would be so much fun! 4AM.

Posted by Jen

Woke up this morning at 4AM, after only getting in a few hours of sleep. Laura woke up crying with a 104.9 temperature. I ended up having to give her a Tylenol suppository, and after 45 minutes, the Tylenol didn’t seem to be working fast enough and I had to subject her to a bath. Poor thing. So far I have got it down to 102.8, and it is now 6AM. This has got to be bad on her body. She was having periods this morning when she was having trouble breathing, but I think it is due to her high fever. I just read that pneumonia kills 1 out of every 5 children that develop it, if this is so then why aren’t her doctors taking this more seriously?!? How many more days of this high fever does she have to suffer through before they put her in the hospital? They just keep saying that she should feel better in a couple of days, then those days pass, and she still feels as bad as before.

Laura has pneumonia, and a really bad ear infection. Poor baby. Visiting the E.R. wasn’t such a bad experience, although they gave her a bath in the sink in the room, and the faucets looked dirty. I freak out when things are “germy”. But, we are home now, and she is doing a little better. Hopefully she will feel better soon, or she might have to visit Vanderbilt. Poor Eric, he hates when I pull out the camera.

Safety first, duh.

Posted by Jen

So, when it comes to safety at work, I laugh. We don’t do anything with caution. We really need to though, or one of us is going to get seriously injured! Not too long ago, one of the techs was opening a ton of supplies that had just arrived, she was in such a hurry that she somehow slit her face wide open with the box cutter. It took forever for her to get the bleeding to stop, and I seriously think she would have been better off to get stitches, but she just put a few bandages on it a day. She was left with a pretty nasty scar, and you would think that we would have bought some safety cutters, but we didn’t. Maybe next time someone else slits their face open he will look into buying some.

She is a good girl, for the most part. Even when she tries to bite my face off when I attempt to give her kisses. She already thinks she owns us.

Thinking about joining.

Posted by Jen

I have been thinking about joining the local YMCA. I would really love to dedicate time for myself. Eric and I have thought about joining somewhere for a while now, it just isn’t financially the best thing for us right now. It would be nice to invest in some weight equipment or a treadmill, the problem though is that we don’t have the room for that kind of equipment. Tomorrow morning I plan to call and get the membership prices and all. Hopefully it will not be very expensive!

Just adopted our third child……

Her name is Naobi. She is a Sheltie or Shetland Sheepdog, whatever you want to call her. She is 12 weeks old, and she likes to chew. HA! We are in for it!

Long night leads to long day.

Laura is sick. Really sick. Had a 104 temp at doctors office, then proceeded to throw up all over me. We had to strip her down to her diaper, and being the terrible mom that I am, I forgot to pack extra clothing in her diaper bag. Lets just say that she left the office in her diaper and her winter coat. After she settled down, all she wanted was her daddy to hold her. =(

Going away!

Posted by Jen

If we ever decided to actually take off from work and go on vacation I am not sure where we would go. I know that I would rather choose to stay in Condo Hotels instead of a standard hotel. I can’t imagine being in a small hotel room with these kids! A condo would suite us much better, and it would give the children a place to run and play. I would imagine that a condo hotel would feel more like home, instead of a small hotel room. I hope we do get the time off soon to take a well deserved vacation, but I truly don’t see it happening anytime in the near future!

Building is a major headache.

Posted by Jen

My parents are trying to build a house and sell their current house at the same time. Needless to say they are pretty stressed out. I am just thankful that my father looked into DirectBuy. By joining he saved big time when he had to purchase the tile that he used in their bathrooms and the kitchen. He saved so much that he even decided to use it in their entryway. I am hoping that they will end up purchasing some new furniture when they move, theirs needs to be updated! Not that it is bad, it is just in the need of being replaced. It will be a blessing if they can get their house sold soon, the one they are living in. I am sure it is extremely hard to manage paying a mortgage on two houses! I can’t imagine having to do that!

So long ago.

Feels like this was forever ago, when it was only a year and a couple of days. My baby days are over. =(
