Zoo Ghouls.

October 31st, 2008 | Category: Silly, Children, Halloween, Misc.

We took the kids to the Nashville Zoo last weekend to their “Zoo Ghouls”. Gavin said he had the “best time ever”. Ha! It was not as great as we had anticipated, but it was fun. I am glad we got to go, even though it was COLD.

Calling me at 7:30AM?!?!

October 28th, 2008 | Category: Vanderbilt, Autism, Rants, Children

So for some strange reason I two calls back to back this morning from Vanderbilt. I could not answer it because I was working, and they did not leave a voice mail. I wonder what the heck it was about. At least they weren’t trying to sell me acne pills, or at least I hope they weren’t. I guess it could have been the billing department, or someone calling in regards to Laura’s classes? Who knows. Probably calling me about the big 40 bucks I owe to them for the remaining balance of the “diagnoses” that Gavin never got. Some horrible doctor, that should not be a doctor, out at Vanderbilt charged us over $1,400 to tell us that he simply does not have a clue what is going on with Gavin. $1,400!!! What a joke! And did I mention that we were on the “waiting list” for over 6 months?!?! They spend a total of 2 hours with our son, that is $700 per hour?! What a rip-off. I am thinking about taking my complaints with this whole thing a little further. I am not sure who to contact with a complaint, but I am going to bring this matter to someones attention!

Blackberry.

October 19th, 2008 | Category: Blackberry, Shopping, Misc.

Eric and I have decided that we cannot live without our Blackberrys. We tried, we purchased two Sony Ericsons, and really gave them a try. The keypad was horrible, and having no pearl was a real bummer. I love my blackberry. I just really love the operating system. Eric purchased a used one on Ebay, and had to get it unlocked. The best bet is to always look for unlocked cell phones, so you don’t have to bother with doing it yourself. The first one he purchased he couldn’t get an unlock code for some strange reason, so he had to return that one and get a new one. The seller was really helpful though, and was fast about the exchange. The second one he was able to get unlocked very easily and fast. Thank goodness!

Insurance.

October 19th, 2008 | Category: Rants, Shopping, Misc.

Our car insurance rate hasn’t gone up in the last year, but it hasn’t gone down either. It is not like we have had any wrecks or tickets, and our car isn’t gaining value, so I am not sure why our rate hasn’t gone down any. It is really frustrating. I have been thinking about shopping around, but it is such a pain to have to fill out all of the information that they need just to give you a quote. Maybe I am just lazy, but I really don’t feel like I have the time do shop around.

More painting will be done tomorrow.

October 19th, 2008 | Category: Work, Misc.

I am hoping that I can get the painting at work finished tomorrow. The other day I was talking about CAT5 cables when I actually think they might be CAT6 cables. I am still not completely sure which ones they are. Looking at all of the cables at work just stresses me out. Usually though, if I mess with things long enough I can figure them out. I have always been good at figuring things out by just messing around with them, or going to Google for the answers. Google is a great place to get answers, it really helped me out when our internet wasn’t working correctly with our networking system.

Chandler update.

October 19th, 2008 | Category: Misc.

Mr. Bing is doing very well. I am very pleased on how he is progressing. Just a few days ago I actually thought he wasn’t going to make it, but I was way wrong. I have got his medicine and fluids down to a routine, once in the morning, and again in the evening. He is eating very well now, thank goodness.

On another note, the economy is freaking me out right now. My father is very stressed, I would say the most I have ever seen him. I wish I could purchase him a set of Callaway golf clubs, and tell him to take a vacation. I am stressed out over our finances, and the finances of my parents, which just doubles my stress. I just hope things turn around.

Things are changing a bit at work.

October 18th, 2008 | Category: Rants, Work, Misc.

We are doing some changing around at work. Not too long ago I switched the systems out that were linked together in our network. There definitely isn’t a shortage of CAT5e cables where I work. I was so stressed out back then, but I did get it all working, very smoothly might I add. Now we are painting and changing things up a bit, and hopefully getting new desks at the end of this month. I am just hoping that we don’t have to move any of the equipment around, there are so many cables running behind the desks we have now, it gives me a headache just looking at all of them. Besides the cables that run to our computers, there are about 5 different phone cables as well. Nothing is marked. Some of the cables have even been chewed on by our clinic puppies….I am not even sure how they still work, or what they are connected to! I like change, but I don’t like being responsible for setting anything computer wise back up!

Chandler is finally doing better.

October 18th, 2008 | Category: Cats, Parenting, Health, Misc.

Chandler seems to finally be over the worst of his URI. Thank God. The past week has been horrible. He got so bad Eric and I had to have the discussion. The discussion of what was the best for Chandler, to keep sticking needles in him to give him his fluids, and to keep shoving food and medicine down his throat, even though he was struggling to breath at times, or ……you know…the “unspeakable“. Thank goodness we decided to help him fight this off. There were times though, when I would just dread going into the bathroom to check on him, in fear that I would find him dead. We have been keeping him in the master bath, which we consider it to be his hotel las vegas for kitties, since he has been sick. It is better for him to be in a quiet room so he can rest. He seems to be doing better, his breathing sounds better, he is now eating, and running around. The only thing he isn’t doing is drinking water, so I still have to stick him with a needle twice a day so he can get those needed fluids. I don’t think the needle bothers him as much as the cold fluid. I hope I can post in a couple of weeks about how fat he is getting, Lord knows he needs to gain weight. He is literally bones and skin.

Chandler Bing.

October 12th, 2008 | Category: Pets, Cats, Parenting, Misc.

Poor kitty. He is SICK. Running a high fever now, coughing, sneezing, not eating. Currently I am having to syringe water and Nutrical down his little throat. Not fun. But, you can see after 30 minutes of me doing it that he feels better. I am taking him into work with me tomorrow so he can get IV fluids and antibiotics. He is also getting B12 injections, but only once a week. He just has a bad upper respiratory infection, which doesn’t sound like much, but it can easily kill a kitten of his size. Hopefully after he gets some IV fluids and some antibiotics pumped into his skinny body he will feel better. He most certainly doesn’t need any diet pills!*Crossing fingers*

The best birthday gift EVER.

October 09th, 2008 | Category: Pets, Cats, Misc.

Meet Chandler Bing. I rescued him on Tuesday. He was about 3 minutes away from being euthanized due to over crowding at our local animal control facility. Unfortunately it is something that is hard to deal with, but it has to been done due to over crowding of “unwanted” or “unplanned” pets. I wish people would just spay and neuter their pets. I just couldn’t let it happen to him. There he was, in a small cage with about 5 other kittens, just looking straight at me. SO….I took him out and adopted him on the spot, about 3 minutes before he was no longer to be. So, happy birthday to me! And what a great deal for him. He does have a kitty cold, from being in the shelter with so many others that were sick, but he tested negative for feline aids and leukemia, and negative for worms and ear mites. He is a bit underweight, but I am working on that. =) He is currently getting B12 injections to help him beat off this cold. He is the most GENTLE and LOVING kitten I have ever met. We adore him.

Starting my “classes” at Vanderbilt on the 13th.

October 05th, 2008 | Category: Laura, Gavin, Parenting, Vanderbilt, Autism, Home, Health, Children

Starting Monday, October 13th, I will start parent classes at Vanderbilt. I believe I will be in a class with other parents with children that are between 15 - 25 months old that are at high risk for Autism. As of right now I believe there are going to be around 8 other sets of mothers or fathers that will be in the class as well. The teacher of the class came out to the house Friday and took some video of Laura’s every day activities, such as snack time and play time. She also brought my “text book”, which is HUGE. This book weighs a ton. It almost overwhelms me a bit. The crazy thing about this whole deal is that Laura seems to be getting better with her eye contact and she is trying to talk now, saying only a few words. I almost feel like Gavin is getting worse. I am so thankful that we decided to not get Laura’s MMR vaccine, as I seriously feel that she would be worse off had we done it. Gavin has gone back to having to have this tiny ball of fuzz to roll between his fingers and stim off of all of the time. BUT..it keeps him calm, and helps him get to sleep better, so in no way are we going to take it away from him. I have actually found myself running to the clothes dryer and getting some lint to roll into a small ball for him when he looses his fuzz ball. He once was ripping one of my quilts to get the cotton out of it to roll into a small ball. It drove me crazy! We are currently having a hard time getting him to eat when it comes time for dinner. We usually would sit around and pretty much tell him he could not get up until he ate it all, which would end in a crying fit, so we have decided to not force him to eat. It is better on everyone. It is so fustrating to get upset with him, when we can explain to him why we are, because he doesn’t understand, and he can’t explain to us why he doesn’t want to eat whatever it is in front of him. Sometimes we just feel LOST. I am just so THANKFUL that we found them both a new doctor. He is wonderful. Laura is getting a ton of early intervention, which is a blessing. I just wish at this point there were more options to help us with Gavin. He has prescribed medicine for ADHD, but I can’t bring myself to go get it filled and actually give it to him. Part of me would feel like I am “druging” him, and that is the last thing I want. He is having more crying fits, and seems to be stuck in his speech. Hopefully we can get him into some speech therapy, which he really needs.

These two are wonderful.

I have never seen someone fight so hard for Autism awareness.

These two are very special people.

Opening so many eyes and ears.

So…how much Spanish do you know?

October 03rd, 2008 | Category: Rants

Obama fully believes that instead of us worrying about people that cannot speak English, we need to start worrying that we don’t know Spanish! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I am NOT going to learn Spanish to make it easier for those that move here and can’t speak English. That is bull sh*t! If you are going to live here, where we speak ENGLISH, do us, the legalized AMERICANS, a favor and learn some f*cking ENGLISH!

The bill was passed.

October 03rd, 2008 | Category: Rants, Misc.

Although the economy needed a boost, I don’t agree with the “bailout”. But, hey, I guess it is something that they had to do, especially since they waited until the last minute. Who knows, there are so many secrets they keep from us, speaking about the general public. I know that things were going to get much worse, but they wouldn’t have stayed that way. The big dogs on wall street needed a good colon cleanse, wouldn’t you agree? And what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger….right? How bad would it really hurt us if this “bailout” doesn’t even touch the damage that has been done?

I need to start assigning categories. Blah.

October 03rd, 2008 | Category: Rants, Shopping, Misc.

I always forget to assign categories, and it is just one of my many flaws. I will start now! Ha! I guess as everyone knows, the economy is pretty rough right now, and that is taking a toll on our bank account, and it is pissing me off! It is not like I am out buying Harley parts or anything crazy like that, I am just purchasing food to feed my family, and putting gas in our tiny Corolla. Just buying enough to get by. The prices at the grocery store are inflating at a horrible rate. I just can’t get over it. Back about a year ago I could actually walk into the store and get everything we needed for a week, food wise, and only spend right over a hundred dollars, now two hundred isn’t enough. Everything is going downhill fast, and someone needs to catch it.
