Chandler seems to finally be over the worst of his URI. Thank God. The past week has been horrible. He got so bad Eric and I had to have the discussion. The discussion of what was the best for Chandler, to keep sticking needles in him to give him his fluids, and to keep shoving food and medicine down his throat, even though he was struggling to breath at times, or ……you know…the “unspeakable“. Thank goodness we decided to help him fight this off. There were times though, when I would just dread going into the bathroom to check on him, in fear that I would find him dead. We have been keeping him in the master bath, which we consider it to be his hotel las vegas for kitties, since he has been sick. It is better for him to be in a quiet room so he can rest. He seems to be doing better, his breathing sounds better, he is now eating, and running around. The only thing he isn’t doing is drinking water, so I still have to stick him with a needle twice a day so he can get those needed fluids. I don’t think the needle bothers him as much as the cold fluid. I hope I can post in a couple of weeks about how fat he is getting, Lord knows he needs to gain weight. He is literally bones and skin.

Starting Monday, October 13th, I will start parent classes at Vanderbilt. I believe I will be in a class with other parents with children that are between 15 - 25 months old that are at high risk for Autism. As of right now I believe there are going to be around 8 other sets of mothers or fathers that will be in the class as well. The teacher of the class came out to the house Friday and took some video of Laura’s every day activities, such as snack time and play time. She also brought my “text book”, which is HUGE. This book weighs a ton. It almost overwhelms me a bit. The crazy thing about this whole deal is that Laura seems to be getting better with her eye contact and she is trying to talk now, saying only a few words. I almost feel like Gavin is getting worse. I am so thankful that we decided to not get Laura’s MMR vaccine, as I seriously feel that she would be worse off had we done it. Gavin has gone back to having to have this tiny ball of fuzz to roll between his fingers and stim off of all of the time. BUT..it keeps him calm, and helps him get to sleep better, so in no way are we going to take it away from him. I have actually found myself running to the clothes dryer and getting some lint to roll into a small ball for him when he looses his fuzz ball. He once was ripping one of my quilts to get the cotton out of it to roll into a small ball. It drove me crazy! We are currently having a hard time getting him to eat when it comes time for dinner. We usually would sit around and pretty much tell him he could not get up until he ate it all, which would end in a crying fit, so we have decided to not force him to eat. It is better on everyone. It is so fustrating to get upset with him, when we can explain to him why we are, because he doesn’t understand, and he can’t explain to us why he doesn’t want to eat whatever it is in front of him. Sometimes we just feel LOST. I am just so THANKFUL that we found them both a new doctor. He is wonderful. Laura is getting a ton of early intervention, which is a blessing. I just wish at this point there were more options to help us with Gavin. He has prescribed medicine for ADHD, but I can’t bring myself to go get it filled and actually give it to him. Part of me would feel like I am “druging” him, and that is the last thing I want. He is having more crying fits, and seems to be stuck in his speech. Hopefully we can get him into some speech therapy, which he really needs.
Eric and I have decided that time-out would be the best discipline for Gavin. We are looking for a “time-out chair” to purchase. I need a seriously heavy child’s chair, so heavy that Gavin cannot pick it up himself, or he will turn it around and watch television! I wish it would be easy to find one that we want, too bad I cannot just pick up a furniture catalog and find one in it!
I have been reading up on some of the top diet pills, but I am not sure I should try any of them. I have never once tried to take any type of diet pill, but I would like to loose some of this “baby” weight that I still have. I just need to find one that will not affect my new blood pressure medicine. I hate being on medicine, feels like I am always looking up what I can use with it and what I cannot use with it, and my doctor is no help, they can’t even return my phone calls!
So we all know that we need to do better for the environment, right? We need to start now. Less talking, more doing. I have discovered a wonderful place to shop for eco-friendly products. GreenandMore.com offers hundred of eco friendly products, they also help support environmental charities such as Oceana and Healthy Child Healthy World, the company lives their mission and follows green practices on-site, they even have a green learning center with top notch information from sources like the EPA and US Dept. of Energy!
I have been looking over their site, and looking over the green products they offer, and I must say that I am very impressed! Their online store is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They carry a wide range of products, and they even offer tips on saving energy, how to purify your water, and even detoxifying your home!
I found a really cute “Sweet Jane” Cotton Monkey Organic Baby Bedding set that I would really like to get for Laura’s bed. It is organic, which is better for the environment, and better for Laura! It is surprising that they offer such cute baby items!
Overall I must say that I am very impressed with GreenandMore.com. They offer quality products, and are a eco-friendly store, which is good for all of us!

So, after reading up on fasting, and attempting to start a 30 day fast, I learned that our colon holds the key to our health. During a fast you are recommended to do a colon cleanse. I did a little research and found that with a bad diet you can build up a plaque on your colon walls, thus creating a stress on your colon, which causes stress on your body. Once you can get rid of that plaque your colon has an easier time, which reduces stress on your body, which creates a healthier you!
So little Laura’s first two teeth are coming in. One on the bottom right, and one on the top left. They are absolutely making her miserable! I called Eric yesterday while he was still at work and gave him a whole list of things to get on his way home. He bought some infant’s ibuprofen, baby Orajel, and some teething tablets. I actually believe the teething tablets are working great. She has periods where she wakes in the night, and I just slip two tablets in her mouth and she is back sleeping within ten minutes or so. I never had any problems with Gavin when it came to teething, it just never bothered him at all. I feel bad for Laura, and I hope they just bust through and get it over with!

“A common plastic used in baby bottles is polycarbonate. In separate studies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Consumers Union and researchers at Nagasaki University in Japan found that baby bottles made of polycarbonate plastic release a hormone-disrupting chemical, bisphenol-A (BPA), into infant formula during sterilizing and heating on the stove-top. The Japanese scientists also found that used bottles leached up to nearly double that from new bottles”
“The damage is seen in egg cells of female mice. When these cells try to divide, their chromosomes don’t line up right. In humans this results in spontaneous abortion, birth defects, or mental retardation, says genetic abnormalities expert Patricia A. Hunt, PhD, of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.”
*FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY- DO NOT PURCHASE FOOD/WATER THAT IS CONTAINED IN PLASTIC THAT HAS A RECYCLE NUMBER 7 ON THE BOTTOM*
First of all, why did I not know about this! I am so upset that I have been using plastic for both of my kids. I can tell you right now that I have been on the phone the past 30 minutes calling every store in the Nashville area trying to find some old school glass bottles! I finally found some at Babies R Us, and as soon as Eric gets home from work I am going to jump into the van and drive there and purchase all of them!!!!!! I just don’t understand why the plastic bottles are still on the shelves, does the government not care? Obviously NOT. I just feel so stupid for not knowing this! I sat here for almost nine months refreshing my brain on how to properly take care of a baby. Now, not only do I feel bad, I feel even worse because we use hard plastic bottles! What can be worse than that you ask? Putting it in the MICROWAVE!!!! Yes, we are BAD parents. I feel like my nerves are just torn all to pieces! Gavin came into the living room as I was on hold with someone from K-Mart, and I snapped on him. I was just in a panic to find glass bottles and he was talking so loud. Well, when I come home tonight with glass bottles I will feel so much better, although I could kick myself in the ass for using plastic ones the past six months with Laura. Poor Gavin used them until he was almost 3!!!!! (I just couldn’t deny him a bottle if he wanted one)

So, today I learned of the lap-band surgery. There are so many benefits from this procedure. This can really help people that are dangerously overweight. This procedure can help them loose the pounds of extra weight, and gain great health benefits! People that obese are at risk of developing other life-threatening medical conditions. If you or anyone that you are close to is fighting with obesity, let them know about this!
