This is the noise that keeps me awake.

Archive for the ‘Rants’ Category

Around 7 AM this morning I woke up to the sound of about 3 Firetrucks and police cars. What a lovely way to wake up. I went to look out the window, because they sounded close……well they were right across the street. One of the apartments had caught on fire. Lovely. I hate apartments. That makes like 2 or 3 this year, and they were right in my area. I snapped this picture at the end of all of it, I could not find the camera in time to get pictures of the black smoke escaping through the windows and roof top. There were massive amounts of smoke coming the building when I first looked out the window this morning, it was really frightening. Hopefully everyone is fine. We will never be notified any thing about what happened, it would be bad publicity for the apartments….they will try to keep it from getting on the news. I want a house.

Calling me at 7:30AM?!?!

Posted by Jen

So for some strange reason I two calls back to back this morning from Vanderbilt. I could not answer it because I was working, and they did not leave a voice mail. I wonder what the heck it was about. At least they weren’t trying to sell me acne pills, or at least I hope they weren’t. I guess it could have been the billing department, or someone calling in regards to Laura’s classes? Who knows. Probably calling me about the big 40 bucks I owe to them for the remaining balance of the “diagnoses” that Gavin never got. Some horrible doctor, that should not be a doctor, out at Vanderbilt charged us over $1,400 to tell us that he simply does not have a clue what is going on with Gavin. $1,400!!! What a joke! And did I mention that we were on the “waiting list” for over 6 months?!?! They spend a total of 2 hours with our son, that is $700 per hour?! What a rip-off. I am thinking about taking my complaints with this whole thing a little further. I am not sure who to contact with a complaint, but I am going to bring this matter to someones attention!

Insurance.

Posted by Jen

Our car insurance rate hasn’t gone up in the last year, but it hasn’t gone down either. It is not like we have had any wrecks or tickets, and our car isn’t gaining value, so I am not sure why our rate hasn’t gone down any. It is really frustrating. I have been thinking about shopping around, but it is such a pain to have to fill out all of the information that they need just to give you a quote. Maybe I am just lazy, but I really don’t feel like I have the time do shop around.

Things are changing a bit at work.

Posted by Jen

We are doing some changing around at work. Not too long ago I switched the systems out that were linked together in our network. There definitely isn’t a shortage of CAT5e cables where I work. I was so stressed out back then, but I did get it all working, very smoothly might I add. Now we are painting and changing things up a bit, and hopefully getting new desks at the end of this month. I am just hoping that we don’t have to move any of the equipment around, there are so many cables running behind the desks we have now, it gives me a headache just looking at all of them. Besides the cables that run to our computers, there are about 5 different phone cables as well. Nothing is marked. Some of the cables have even been chewed on by our clinic puppies….I am not even sure how they still work, or what they are connected to! I like change, but I don’t like being responsible for setting anything computer wise back up!

So…how much Spanish do you know?

Posted by Jen

Obama fully believes that instead of us worrying about people that cannot speak English, we need to start worrying that we don’t know Spanish! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I am NOT going to learn Spanish to make it easier for those that move here and can’t speak English. That is bull sh*t! If you are going to live here, where we speak ENGLISH, do us, the legalized AMERICANS, a favor and learn some f*cking ENGLISH!

The bill was passed.

Although the economy needed a boost, I don’t agree with the “bailout”. But, hey, I guess it is something that they had to do, especially since they waited until the last minute. Who knows, there are so many secrets they keep from us, speaking about the general public. I know that things were going to get much worse, but they wouldn’t have stayed that way. The big dogs on wall street needed a good colon cleanse, wouldn’t you agree? And what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger….right? How bad would it really hurt us if this “bailout” doesn’t even touch the damage that has been done?

I always forget to assign categories, and it is just one of my many flaws. I will start now! Ha! I guess as everyone knows, the economy is pretty rough right now, and that is taking a toll on our bank account, and it is pissing me off! It is not like I am out buying Harley parts or anything crazy like that, I am just purchasing food to feed my family, and putting gas in our tiny Corolla. Just buying enough to get by. The prices at the grocery store are inflating at a horrible rate. I just can’t get over it. Back about a year ago I could actually walk into the store and get everything we needed for a week, food wise, and only spend right over a hundred dollars, now two hundred isn’t enough. Everything is going downhill fast, and someone needs to catch it.

10 Days till the big moving day!

Posted by Jen

I am totally excited, but also worried as well. What if we move and it ends up like where we are. Well, you know, I don’t think anything could be worse than cigarette smoke coming up through the dryer vent, making your 11 month olds clothes smelling like an astray. And hopefully that can’t happen twice. If it did I would think it was a curse. And I am sure that moving to a bottom floor unit will make a huge difference on our electric bill, along with making some energy efficient changes. I plan to replace all the bulbs with energy efficient ones, and adding thermal curtains, and hopefully getting around to weather sealing the doors and windows.

I am excited to get some well deserved time off with my husband. We never see each other really. We don’t have a day off together, and I hate it. We will probably end up so stressed that we end up fighting, but heck, at least it will be time together! LOL!

On another note, we read a few days ago that Gatorade is good to have around in case you get a headache. Have you ever heard of that? You just drink 2 glasses at the on set of a headache, and it is known to stop it instantly. I have not tried this yet, but I get enough headaches to see if it works! I wonder what grape seed extract can do?

Countdown Begins.

Posted by Jen

So, we officially have 60 days until we vacate this apartment. Although I am full of excitement, I also feel a little bit of stress. I need to start early, painting and cleaning and packing. I am so excited though that we are moving into such a better apartment, and that we will be purchasing new furniture, we can purchase a house in a couple of years, there is no rush. Although I cannot give any details on our legal battle that has been going on for years, I can say that I am so pleased with how well our lawyer is kicking butt! Yes, I am so proud of our lawyer, he is the best. We are just going to wait until all of that is over to buy a house.  I am going to go buy some paint this week and go ahead and paint Gavin’s room back to white, I painted it blue back when we moved in. I am trying to sell his entertainment center, but haven’t had much luck yet, even though I am only asking 50 bucks for it! Oh, well. We are planning on selling our “bedroom suite” as well, and our television. We are planning to purchase a LCD when we move, to save on room. Plus we have a fireplace that it would look nice above!

On another note, our car arrived yesterday from Florida! There are a few different, minor, things that need to be fixed before we sign the papers to make it legal. Lol. It is such a cute *little* car. It will be completely strange going from a huge minivan, to a small compact car. The cost of gas is just getting out of hand, and we need a car that will make our money stretch! I think we will enjoy for years and years. If we run into any money we plan to get another one, so we can have matching cars. We are total dorks, but we like it that way.

Well……..my house is currently a mess. For some reason my brain keeps thinking it is Sunday, I think I am just overly excited to see Desperate Housewives. I need to clean, and then get a game plan together on what I can pack away now.

This is the best!

Posted by Jen

So, I ordered some sugar scrub on Ebay. Last night when I came home and ran to the mailbox like a child on Christmas, I discovered that it had not been delivered. Instead there was a little orange card that stated: “Leaking Package. Must be picked up at Post Office.” I am assuming that they are going to make me sign something, or that they are going to recommend I refuse the package. As soon as I got this I emailed the seller on Ebay. He proceeds to tell me that was pretty much my fault for not purchasing the optional insurance, although that would not have helped me seeing that it was leaking from the inside, and it wasn’t damaged in shipping. They are telling me that it was “factory sealed”, and it wasn’t leaking when they packaged it. Even if I had purchased insurance the Post Office couldn’t do anything, because it is not fault of their own. It is the sellers fault for not properly packing the item.

Anyways, not sure why I am going on and on about this, I am just still upset. As of last night I remembered when my sister owned a salon, and carried this one type of salt scrub, and it was by far the best smelling stuff on earth, and it made my skin feel so good during the winter. I sat here forever before I could remember the brand name. I remember it being expensive, but I couldn’t remember the name!

I finally remembered the name of the product, but then I realized that it cost 28.00 just for the scrub, so here I go….back to Ebay. I did find it on Ebay for 19.99, and I just hope that it gets here still in its container! Body scrub with essential oils can cost a ton, that is why I expect it to NOT be leaking out all over the package when it arrives.

No, yellow isn’t what I picked out!

Posted by Jen

So I received my cupcake courier today. Needless to say it wasn’t what I ordered. As I was filled with with joy, opening the box, my joy turned to anger when I saw that it was yellow, and broken. I ordered a pink one, and when it comes to spending forty dollars on something that is plastic, it better be the color I ordered, and it better not be broken! I was so upset! And then I go to check the mail and see that the post office couldn’t deliver my sugar scrub because the package was “leaking”, so now I will have to fight with the person I bought it from on Ebay, and hopefully get my money back. I would rather have the awaken salt scrub instead anyways. So much for all of my rambling, I better just take my nutritional supplements and go to bed!

Something to call ours.

Posted by Jen

I cannot wait until we move out of here! I cannot stand when I go to get the mail and there are like tons of people standing around the mailboxes! We have one huge mailbox area, where there are like 8 mailboxes all shoved together. And not to mention that they are located next to someones apartment, and it never fails that the lady opens her door and her dog runs out and starts barking at me. It is just very annoying!

Apartments.

Posted by Jen

So our new “across the hall neighbor” moved in late last night. I have already heard his dog barking this morning. It sounds like a bigger breed, but I have yet to see this dog. I can tell you right now that if this dog is larger than allowed in this community I will turn his butt in so fast. I cannot stand a barking dog. I have a feeling that this new neighbor of ours is going to make us angry! I can already feel it!
